How to Join Washington Lodge No. 21

A Tradition of Character and Fellowship
Becoming a Freemason is an intentional choice made by men of good character who seek to improve themselves, support their families, and contribute positively to society. Washington Lodge No. 21 welcomes inquiries from honorable men of lawful age who share our dedication to brotherly love, relief, and truth.
We do not actively recruit members; rather, our tradition requires that a man must seek admission of his own free will and accord. If you wish to learn more about our lodge, attending our pre-meeting dinners is the best place to start.
General Requirements
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Character: Be a man of good reputation and moral standing.
- Belief: Express a belief in a Supreme Being.
- Motivation: Seek admission voluntarily out of a favorable opinion of the fraternity.
The Petition Process
The journey toward becoming a Master Mason involves several deliberate steps designed to ensure mutual alignment between the candidate and the lodge.
1. Initial Contact & Visit
Reach out to our officers or join us for dinner prior to our Stated Communications on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month (September through June) at Masonic Hall.
2. Submitting a Petition
Once you have acquainted yourself with our members and feel comfortable with the lodge, you may request, complete, and submit an official petition for the degrees of masonry.
3. Investigation Committee
An investigative committee appointed by the Master will meet with you personally to discuss your background, answer your questions, and verify your qualifications.
4. Ballot & Initiation
The lodge members vote upon your petition during a regular communication. Upon a favorable ballot, you will be scheduled to receive your Entered Apprentice degree.
